Commonwealth Care is a free or subsidized health care coverage program for
eligible Massachusetts residents. BMC HealthNet Plan participates in this
program. You must qualify for Commonwealth Care first before you can choose BMC
HealthNet Plan. There are no deductibles (upfront fees) for Commonwealth Care
coverage. Depending on your annual household income, you may pay a premium
(monthly fee) that is based on your income. You may also pay a co-pay (fee you
pay at the time you receive care) for certain medical services and prescription
drugs.
If you choose BMC HealthNet Plan you will be a member of the largest and most
popular Commonwealth Care plan in the state. With 59,430 members enrolled in
Commonwealth Care as of March 2010, BMC HealthNet Plan holds 39% of overall
Commonwealth Care membership of 152,571 statewide. This represents the largest
share of membership among all health plans participating in Commonwealth Care
at this time.
