What is BMC HealthNet Plan?

BMC HealthNet Plan is a managed care organization that provides coverage to MassHealth (Medicaid) recipients. Each BMC HealthNet Plan member selects a personal physician who provides or arranges for the member's care. Members have comprehensive coverage for hospitalization, and primary and specialty care. They also retain their MassHealth membership since MassHealth is responsible for certain services they receive. In addition, BMC HealthNet Plan provides members with a variety of extra health and safety benefits.

How did I become a BMC HealthNet Plan member?

First, you were eligible for MassHealth. Then you became a member in one of the following ways:

  • You chose BMC HealthNet Plan.
  • MassHealth chose BMC HealthNet Plan for you.
  • You were transferred to BMC HealthNet Plan from the MassHealth PCC Plan.
  • You transferred from another managed care organization.

Will I get an I.D. card?

Yes. When you become a member and have a primary care physician (PCP).

What if I lose my I.D. card?

Call our Member Services Call Center. A representative will arrange for you to get a new one. The number is 1-888-566-0010.

How do I pick a primary care physician (PCP)?

Choosing a PCP is very important. Your PCP will provide or arrange for all your health care. For help choosing a PCP, call our Member Services call Center at 1-888-566-0010.

How do I receive services?

Make sure you always carry your BMC HealthNet Plan I.D. card with you. You must show your I.D. card each time you receive healthcare services. For example, you’ll show your BMC HealthNet Plan I.D. card when you see your doctor or when you have a prescription filled.

You should also carry your MassHealth card with you. That’s because there are some services that are still covered by MassHealth. Depending on your coverage, you need to show your MassHealth I.D. card when you receive dental care and eyeglass services.

I’m going to move soon. Should I tell you?

Yes. It’s very important that you tell us when you’re moving. Call our Member Services Call Center at 1-888-566-0010. Tell the representative your new address and phone number.

Do I still have my MassHealth benefits even though I’m a BMC HealthNet Plan member?

Yes. You always have your MassHealth benefits. When you joined BMC HealthNet Plan, we became responsible for most of your healthcare benefits. These include all the extra benefits, such as free car seats and bike helmets for kids. But MassHealth is still responsible for some of your benefits. That’s why you should always carry your BMC HealthNet Plan I.D. card and your MassHealth I.D. card.

What should I do if I get a bill for healthcare services?

You should not be charged for any service you get from a BMC HealthNet Plan provider. Care that is not covered by BMC HealthNet Plan or MassHealth may be your responsibility to pay, but we can assist you in determining this. If you are asked to pay for a service and are unsure whether or not it should be paid by BMC HealthNet Plan or MassHealth, call our Member Services Call Center at 1-888-566-0010. If you get a bill from a provider, follow these steps:

Print the name of the member who received the care on the bill. Also print the member’s I.D. card number on the bill.

Make a copy of the bill for your records.
